Mauritz Klopper on King III and EA

Mauritz Klopper presented a talk at the EARF meeting on 19 April, 2010 at the Meraka Institute.

Information Technology (IT) Governance is a new issue introduced in the King III code. The King III code places IT governance in the hands of the board and specifically states that the board should be responsible for information technology (IT) governance- ensuring that the business of IT is properly managed in the company. Whereas King I and King II applied to public, listed companies only, King III applies to all entities, regardless of the manner and form of incorporation. The King III code of Governance became effective on 1st March 2010

Mauritz Klopper gave a one hour presentation (12:00 - 13:00) on how Enterprise Architecture supports the governance as set out by the new KING III code of governance.

Mauritz Kloppers is an independent business advisor with a focus on business enterprise architecture, service orientation and business process management solutions.  Mauritz spent the past three years at PricewaterhouseCoopers as an Enterprise Architect assisting a range of diverse client in both public and private sectors on management and business advisory, Business/IT alignment, Information Technology strategies, IT architectures and selecting the appropriate IT solutions to support business operations.. He spent the last 35 years in the Information Technology industry, and regard himself as a good all-rounder. He also has extensive training and experience in project management and business analysis. Mauritz is holding a Masters in Business Administration from Oxford Brookes of London with a research topic in “The strategic effect of business process optimisation on the sustainable competitive advantage of the firm. He is also a certified TOGAF architect and CobiT practitioner
